Ethan turned three on May 25. We had a little party in Woodward over the weekend. He was a little grouchy at picture taking time and wouldn't take his hands out of his mouth, but once the presents came he was pumped! He got a sit and spin and a Radio Flyer Big Wheel from Ga Ga. Hard to believe he's three, such a great kid!
Every year the fifth grade class does a talent show. This was Conner's year! He and a couple of his buddies did a skit, something about buying a car and a rabid cat. It was pretty funny and they got lots of cheers! See Nicci in the sea of kids? Hi Nicci!
The cat, Socks, had four kittens this Spring. We could only find 3 of them this time or maybe the 4th one was smart and hid from the hands of Ethan. Ethan just loves playing with them and insists on carrying two at a time. Socks, the momma, is very patient and lets Ethan do whatever he wants with them. Carlie just watches.
My istructions before the almost 3 year old went outside: no mud, no flower beds, no mulch. Within 5 minutes I peek outside and see him buck naked swinging his diaper around his head and then plop into this mud hole in our back yard. Instead of getting mad I got the camera.
We sang this in church the other day and it seemed very appropriate to be sung to Avery. So, here you go Avery and to your birth mother and birth father too . . . We love you very much already, you have no idea . . .
I have a Maker He formed my heart Before even time began My life was in his hands
Chorus He knows my name He knows my every thought He sees each tear that falls and He hears me when I call
I have a Father He calls me His own He?ll never leave me No matter where I go
Chorus He knows my name He knows my every thought He sees each tear that falls and He hears me when I call
Twenty years ago this month I graduated from high school. I was 18, drove a red Chevy 4 wheel drive pick-up (my dad's huntin' truck named The Boss), was going to go to UCO and major in Foreign Languages (Spanish), worked at a day care center, and lived with my parents. Since then I am now 38, drive a Honda Odyssey, have a wonderful husband of 13 years as of May 27, graduated from UCO with a degree in Special Education, and I'm a stay at home mom to 4 soon to be 5 great kids. Oh, and I don't live with my parents anymore - WHEW!! Time sure does fly when you are having the time of your life!
OK, these are a little old, but still good! Last month was our church Easter egg hunt. We "hide" over 5,000 eggs for each age group, each egg has candy or a prize ticket in it. Kids from all over come to our egg hunt and have a blast! Between each age group's hunt we have inflatables for the kids to play on. Ethan had fun, but kept telling me "No, you pick it up!" Conner was too old to hunt, but helped hide the eggs.
These are our wonderful dogs, Jasmine (the pug), and Sammy (the part beagle, part cocker spaniel, part dachsund). Jasmine is almost two years old and a great dog. She's awesome with the kids and has such a great sense of humor. She does snore almost louder than the TV sometimes. Sammy is 9 years old and a little grumpy sometimes. She wants to be the alpha dog in the house, but Jasmine won't let her and Sammy doesn't want to fight for the position. Sammy and Conner have a great relationship! They have been best buds since we brought Sammy home. The dogs both LOVE marshpillows and will eat their weight in them. They are really good dogs and make our family very happy.
It rained almost non-stop on Wednesday. That means lots of mud! So, what's a kid to do? Play in it of course! Nicci and Ethan had a really great time getting muddy and wet. The only problem is that Ethan wanted to play in it EVERY time he went outside. It's now Friday and I can't let him outside because he STILL plays in it and I don't have extra time to clean up the mess today - I know, bad mommy. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!
One of the few things I really do not like in this world are snakes!!! I think it stems back from that cartoon they would show every year called Riki Tiki Tavi where these two cobras got in the house at night - AAAAUUUUGGGGHHHH!!!! Plus, they are just so creepy. No matter how many episodes of the Crocodile Hunter I watch I am still not cool with snakes. So, you can imagine my feelings on having these in our back yard! But, because I am a mom to boys, I understand their fascination with creepy things, so they currently reside in a big flower pot in our back yard so Conner go tend to them. Ethan hasn't picked one up yet, but I know it's a matter of time. He will put on garden gloves and stick his hand in there, but that is it. Don't worry, they are non-venomous and according to the internet harmless! YUCK!!
I am a wife to a wonderful man, and a mother of five beautiful, healthy children. If I had time, I would get organized, read, research stuff, exercise (pressing on!), and take more naps. We live in the great state of Oklahoma. Life is good. God is great!
